About me

Praween Siritanasak (Thai: ประวีณ สิริธนศักดิ์ ) was born and raised in Bangkok Thailand. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics (First-class honors) from the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University Thailand in 2009. In the same year, he received a fully-funded Royal Thai Government scholarship to pursue a doctoral degree in physics and astrophysics. He completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Physics at University of California at San Diego on June 2018. From 2018-2020, he worked as the postdoctoral fellow in experimental cosmology at the Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences (CASS) at the UC San Diego under the supervision of Professor Brian Keating. He is currently working on the POLARBEAR/Simons Array project which is the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarization experiment located in the Atacama Desert in the northern Chile with the goal of understanding the nature of the universe through the detection of a faint signal from the CMB. His responsibilities ranges from the development of the next generation receiver to testing and characteristic the highly sensitive detector. Currently, he is working as the researcher at the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), Chiangmai, Thailand.

Praween is an avid runner, he is a two times full marathon finisher and aims at many more in the future.  His other hobbies includes traveling and photography. He also enjoys watching a sunrise sunset, and stars at night.
